The following are some of the main reasons that sales of a business could not get off, or the sales may have fallen from time to time. These are reasons that we must determine whether sales are affecting our business and, if so, try working on them:
Low quality product
One of the reasons why we might have a low level of sales is the low quality of our products. Probably our products are made of poor quality inputs, do not have adequate time, not working properly, do not meet consumer expectations, or do not satisfy the customer who bought them.
Poor customer service
Another reason for a poor level of sales could be the poor service we provide to our customers. Probably we or our employees are not greeting the customer, we are not making me feel at ease in our business, or we are not showing a genuine interest to help. Reasons that have made customers have decided not to visit or, worse, bad-mouthing us to other consumers.
Competition
Probably the reason for our low sales to be our competition, which is offering a better product than ours, is to better serve customers, or simply their products are of the same quality as ours but have a lower price. Reasons that have made customers have decided to buy them before us.
Poor market segmentation
Or perhaps the fact that our sales did not reach to take off at all, is because we have not previously done adequate market segmentation, and we are directing our products or services to the market or target audience that is not appropriate for us.
Poor location
Another possible reason why our sales have not taken off could be the poor location of the premises of our business. It probably is not close to our target audience is not very accessible to it, or not very visible to the consumer is going to foot or vehicle in the area.
Exterior unattractive business
We probably have a good location, but the facade of our business is not very attractive to consumers. Probably not a lot of attention, does not encourage the consumer to enter, or simply conveys a different picture of what really is the concept of our business.
Lack of advertising
We probably have a good product and offer good customer service, but our products are not known or consumers do not have sufficient reason to try, in other words, you probably are not doing an adequate publicity.
Narrow range of products
Finally, another reason for the low level of our sales could be the lack of variety or assortment of our products. It’s probably not a lot of types or classes of products, or products that we sell do not have much variety in models, sizes or colors, to the point that the consumer never gets to find that one product you would like to find.
